These awards reflect exceptional performance in the areas of Compensation and Benefits, Employee Growth and Development, Work-Life Balance, Workplace Environment, and Company Management.

Based on the results of employee surveys, executed either online or on paper, POPULUS calculated an Index of Excellence for each of these five dimensions of employee satisfaction. Scores reflect the proportion of employees showing the highest level of satisfaction on the various aspects of their employment covered in that dimension.

To be considered for an award, participating companies had to have a specified level of employees complete the survey. By setting this threshold, POPULUS was confident that the opinions expressed represented the entire employee population and not a just small segment.

The awards reflect one of three achievements:

  • Top Scores in your size category for one or more dimensions
  • Top Five Company (high scores statewide on all dimensions but not a top score)
  • High Regional Scores (high regional scores on all dimensions but not a top score)

The Best Places to Work in Idaho winners, as chosen by their own employees, have demonstrated exceptional performance in the areas of Compensation and Benefits, Employee Growth and Development, Work-Life Balance, Workplace Environment, and Company Management.

Employee surveying and winner selection are conducted by POPULUS, an independent marketing and HR research organization. Employee responses are tabulated and combined to create an Index of Excellence for each of the five dimensions of employee satisfaction. These indices are used to select the winners and rank the Top Ten organizations in each size category.

Winners are recognized based on their size category:

  • Micro Organizations (10 - 19 employees).
  • Small Organizations (20 - 99 employees).
  • Large Organizations (100 and more employees).

To be considered for an award, participating organizations must achieve a sufficient level of completed surveys.
